Overview
Skillways is a learning experience design, delivery, and analytics solution optimized to curate measurable outcomes and industry skills. Content created with Skillways learning paths and associated curriculum maps can be embedded into any LMS, portal, or web application to deliver a learner-focused experience with rich learning activities that have granular outcomes, mapped performance criteria, and measurement so as to facilitate data-driven evidence of achievement and skills.
Why Skillways?
We know solid learning design begins with the outcomes. What makes Skillways unique is the outcome and skills mapping that aligns with this backward design approach.
Skillways offers the following benefits:
- Comprehensive curriculum mapping including program outcomes, course outcomes, and learning outcomes that tie to activities in a course to demonstrate learner performance and competency
- Skillways learning paths and curriculum maps that be can be embedded into any LMS, portal, or web application
- Ability to chunk material allowing for flexible configurations of curricula and learning modules that can be plugged into any LMS in any configuration to meet the needs of the target learners
- Skills-tagging feature that enables the ability to add and identify both hard and soft skills into a traditional higher education curriculum map providing an opportunity for learners to articulate their skills as they relate to a skills-based economy
- Sophisticated data analytics and customized reporting that provides evidence of learner mastery and enables real-time insights into learner performance
- LTI that can be leveraged to enable embedding of third-party tools. Learning activities from these tools can be mapped and tracked just like Skillways native activities. This allows for thousands of external activity applications for assignments, assessment, collaboration, projects, etc. to further enhance the learning experience
LTI in Skillways
Skillways leverages LTI to be able to communicate and operate within other platforms like learning management systems (LMS). LTI is what allows a Skillways course to be embedded or “live” within another platform. It’s what makes it possible for it to access learner information from an LMS and pass back information such as learner grades to the LMS gradebook. Skillways also leverages LTI to enable embedding of third-party application supported learning activity types used in a learning path. This allows for thousands of external activity applications for assignments, assessment, collaboration, projects, etc to further enhance the learning experience.
